To import data into the working document, you can also use "READEXCEL("file", "range", [emptyfill])" the built-in function, which returns a matrix from a defined range in an Excel worksheet.

Filter out out NaN and Complex results?
In the attached worksheet there is a plot error (Plotting failed. Replace complex values and NaN by real numbers.) I've tried using failterNaN to remove the NaNs. Is there a way to remove the complex results?
Re: Filter out out NaN and Complex results?
I can't open your sheet, only see the jpg's.
In Filter 1 you define ORIGIN:=0 (that's default any way.)
In Filter 2 you have
so the first element of xv is not defined, 0 by default, but no units.
I don't see where you define x, but:
suggests that x has no units--you put in feet and Mathcad divided by meters to balance the units.
I think that's your basic problem.
Re: Filter out out NaN and Complex results?
filterNaN does not work the way you use it and would not help anyway.
A 2D plot will only fail with that error if ALL values are NaN or invalid and I suspect that the latter is the case.
I can't read P3.1 and I could not be bothered to switch between three JPGs to debug.
But I would suggest you try to evaluate your function V for a simple single value.
What happens if you type V(2 ft)= ? Where does the error trace to?
EDIT: Fred could possible be right (again). Try to define a range variable for x, like x:=1ft, 1ft+1in .. 10 ft or whatever seems appropriate.
help regarding plot
Dear PTC experts, i would like to ask your invaluable pertinent to the attached file. In this problem, i am evaluating Zpq for a frequency (f:=2.45*10^9), the value of Zpq turns out to be complex and i have seperated the real and imaginary parts. I would further like to evaluate Zpq for a frequency range i.e., from 2.2*10^9-2.6*10^9 with step size of 0.5*10^9. Moreover, i would like to plot Zpq against the mentioned frequency range. Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated. Many thanks

The latest version of .NET Framework is 4.6/4.6.1 (link: .NET Framework 4.6 - Search Microsoft.com). You installed this version?

Fred,
Please find PDF document of this worksheet in attachment.

Re: help regarding plot
Dear Luc Meekes,
Thank you very much for the kind help. It solved my problem, with your detailed guidance, I was able to duplicate it perfectly.
Re: help regarding plot
Good day shabby sam
I am glad you were able to find a solution!
Would you please mark Luc's answer correct as it make the information easier for others to find.
Thank you!
Toby
Re: Filter out out NaN and Complex results?
Thank you all very much, the issue was that x was not defined.
Re: Filter out out NaN and Complex results?
Thanks! It's interesting to see the entire sheet..

Yes I have installed this one.
In case of linear vibration 'Time period' or 'Frequency' will be same for different displacement ?
I need help from this community.
Re: In case of linear vibration 'Time period' or 'Frequency' will be same for different displacement ?
Could you describe the initial problem in more detail?
Re: In case of linear vibration 'Time period' or 'Frequency' will be same for different displacement ?
Re: In case of linear vibration 'Time period' or 'Frequency' will be same for different displacement ?
The frequency and displacement of a vibration are independent. For a given frequency a larger displacement means a larger acceleration.
If that doesn't answer your question, then please post a more detailed question.
Complete beginner in Mathcad - advice wanted
Hi all,
This is my first post on the forums and I wanted to ask a general question on gaining proficiency in Mathcad.
In a nutshell, I am an experienced Project Engineer by profession (mainly mechanical & structural bias) but in order to widen my skill set, I have recently been training part-time in Finite Element Analysis, which I enjoyed immensely. To complement this, I asked my colleagues which packages would best complement my new skills in FEA and ANSYS software and Mathcad was one which came highly recommended.
With all of this in mind, I wanted to ask if any of you can offer advice and hopefully point me in the right direction (ie. training courses, PDFs available online) so that I can work on Mathcad from the ground up. I am completely self-financed and so I am looking to do this on a tight budget, but I am motivated and can devote more than enough time to making this happen. Thanks in advance for any input.
Best regards,
- Chris
